We took 8 tech divers out to do some
no-limits diving at Stetson and a deep rig.
The first dive was to the bottom of Stetson,
some divers got lost and couldn’t find the
boat. That’s a big deal when wearing tech
gear. We saw lots of big big sting rays on
the bottom, as well as the usual monster
lobsters. The current was a little strong,
but not unmanageable. Seas were steady 4
feet, water temp 84, and rainy.
After the first dive, we moved onto High
Island 552. We dove to a max depth of 230
feet, where goliath groupers were spotted in
the murk. We also had huge schools of Jacks,
lots of ling, and other deep water denizens
commonly seen on rigs. Current had slacked
by the this dive.
After the rig, we went back to Stetson
for the night dive. A 2 hour run time night
dive was performed. A little long for the
deck crew, but the divers had a great time
Friday morning we got up and did it all
over again. No critters of note were
spotted, except the big lobsters again, but
the current was down to noticeable but not
annoying. A great time was had by all.
