Here
is one for the record books, 6 days
straight of perfect weather for
springtime diving. Saturday was calm
to 2 feet; Sunday it got up to three
feet. The water is still damn cold,
though, at 67 degrees. I made a
terrible error in judgment and went
to the East bank on Saturday
morning, tying up to buoy 1, on the
wall. There were no sharks on the
wall. The Manta came and played with
for both morning dives, but no
sharks. So we went to HI-389, and
there were no sharks. WTH? Back to
EFG buoy 4, sharks everywhere. One
school of about 15 hammerheads, a
school of Mobula rays, the manta was
right next to the boat, turtles,
etc. Melanie said that we should
have gone to #4 in the first place
(I told you so). We cancelled the
night dive due to a general lack of
interest, and some very frozen
divers and divemasters. The water
visibility was 40-60 feet,
temperature 68.
Off to Stetson. Sighted were
spinners, duskys, one hammerhead,
schooling silkys, and a zillion
teeny teeny baby trunkfish. Water
temperature was 68, visibility was
40-60 feet, and everyone claimed to
have a great time.
