 |
|
| You must be entered in the Spree Online Booking System and payment received in full by Spree
Expeditions, Inc. before your space is confirmed and you are “booked”. You will be notified by
e-mail when your payment is confirmed. If paying by check, your space will only be held for 10
business days after your booking date for payment to be received and processed. If payment is
not received, you will forfeit your booking. Any charter booked within 2 weeks of the departure
date must be paid by credit card. |
| |
| You may place a deposit to hold your space on the boat. Deposit amounts will be 1/3 of the total
cost of the trip. Payment in full is due 30 days prior to trip departure. Registration in the Spree
Online Booking System is required to place a trip deposit. We do not sell your personal
information to other entities, but we do use it to contact you in the event of change of status of a
trip. |
| |
| If you must cancel 30 days or more from the trip date, you will receive a refund less a 10% nonrefundable
booking fee. If you cancel less than 30 days from the trip date, there will be no
refund unless another diver purchases the spot. Divers who must cancel within 30 days due to
medical reasons or due to death in the family will be provided with a trip voucher of equal value.
As always, if a trip does not run due to our call (weather, etc.) we will refund to you in full. |
| |
| Important Information |
| |
| The boat will depart the evening prior to the trip date shown on the schedule. |
| |
| Weather call: Weather decisions are made at departure time, except in the event of catastrophic
weather (Hurricane). Accommodations will be provided aboard for all guests in the case of a
delayed departure. |
| |
| The trip status will be updated on the Spree Expeditions website, or you may call our office at
(281) 970-0534 to check on trip status. Groups traveling by air or from greater distances should
make case-by-case arrangements with us for weather information. |
| |
| If departure is cancelled or delayed due to weather or any other circumstances beyond our
control, including but not limited to mechanical failure, we will have no liability to you
other than to refund your payment or issue a voucher for future travel. |
| |
| Boarding: Passengers arriving early will be allowed to leave their gear on the dock, but will not
be allowed on the boat. Early arriving passengers must entertain themselves off the boat until
boarding time. |
| |
| Diver age: minimum age for passengers aboard the Spree is 12 years old. All divers between
the ages of 12 and 15 MUST dive with either a parent or a dive supervisor. Non-diving minor
children will not be allowed unless there is a parent aboard to supervise them at all times,
including during dive windows. The crew is not available for babysitting. |
| |
| Minimum certification: open water or junior open water diver. You must present proof of
certification to be allowed to dive. You MUST make special arrangements beforehand if you
wish to complete open water certification on the vessel. |
| |
| Non-divers: non-divers are always welcome at full price. Snorkeling is allowed. |
| |
| Release of Liability: All divers and passengers must execute and provide the crew with an
originally signed Spree Expeditions release without modification. PLEASE NOTE THAT
the Spree Expeditions release contains provisions releasing Spree Expeditions and its
related parties from the consequences of its own negligence. Read the release carefully.
Divers or passengers without completed release forms will not be taken offshore. Forms are
available on the Spree Expeditions website. |
| |
| Unaccompanied minors: minor children coming without a parent or legal guardian upon
boarding must provide the crew with an originally signed and notarized
Spree Expeditions
release and authorization for medical treatment with photocopies of the parent’s medical
insurance information. Please note, each individual sheet of paper must be signed and notarized.
Forms are available on the Spree Expeditions website. PLEASE NOTE THAT the Spree
Expeditions release contains provisions releasing Spree Expeditions and its related parties
from the consequences of its own negligence. Read the release carefully. Minors without
completed release forms and medical treatment consent forms will not be taken offshore. |
| |
| Physical Limitations: All divers must be physically capable of performing a giant stride entry
from a height of 6 feet above the water. Additionally, all divers must be capable of boarding the
vessel after the dive with all dive gear intact, including, but not limited to: mask, fins, BCD with
cylinder, and weights. Adaptive SCUBA participants are always welcome, provided they are
accompanied by certified and trained adaptive buddies to assist with entry, exit, gear removal,
etc. The vessel crew is not trained nor equipped to assist adaptive divers in the water or on the
dive deck. |
| |
| Medical Conditions: any diver with a medical condition which is a contraindication to diving
must, upon boarding, provide the crew with an originally signed and dated letter from their
doctor on the doctor’s letterhead stating that the doctor understands the consequences of diving
with the diver’s specific medical condition and that the diver is medically fit to dive. Standard
medical release forms alone will not be accepted. Please contact Divers Alert Network about
your medical condition. |
| |
| Snacks: meals and snacks are provided from 6:00 am until midnight. For sanitary reasons, food
and drinks are not allowed below deck. Please do not bring food or drinks to the boat.
Personal
ice chests, sodas, beer, and glass containers are not allowed on board at all. The coolers and
freezers are fully stocked for the charter, so there is no room for anything that needs to be
refrigerated or frozen. Anyone on a very strict diet, like vegan or kosher, needs to call our office
and make special arrangements. |
| |
| Scuba equipment: you should arrive at the boat with a complete set of scuba gear, including
but not limited to: mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy compensator with inflator, regulator with
octopus and gauges or dive computer, timing device, weight belt and weights, and appropriate
thermal protection. Dive computers are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |
| |
| Tanks: the boat provides aluminum 80’s for all divers. We do allow divers to bring personal
cylinders on the boat. Doubles are not allowed on sport trips. |
| |
| Pony Bottles: pony bottles in use aboard the M/V Spree are considered redundant safety
equipment for emergency situations only. Pony bottles equipped as a redundant gas supply with
first and second stage regulators will be filled once at the beginning of the charter if needed. |
| |
| Rebreathers: rebreather use is allowed on the Spree under certain conditions. Please read our
Spree Rebreather Sport Diving Policies. |
| |
| Scooters/DPV’s: diver propulsion vehicles are allowed on the Spree on technical diving
charters only. |
| |
| Signaling devices: all divers are required to carry visual surface signaling devices. Divers
arriving without a visual surface signal will be issued an inflatable surface signaling device.
There is a $35 charge for any lost signals. Audible signaling devices are also required. |
| |
| Lights: we require a minimum of 3 lights per buddy team--primary light for each diver and
backup light between the two--as well as a tank marker light for each diver. The tank light can
be battery powered or a chemical light (cyalume) but cannot be a white strobe. The boat has
cyalumes for sale but does not rent lights. Solo divers must carry 2 lights on night dives. |
| |
| Lost or Forgotten Items: Please keep track of your equipment. We are not responsible for
any lost items. A pre-paid UPS shipping label is required for the return of forgotten items
left on board. |
